Presenting Child Portrait Contest Winner, Asa!

One year old Asa was a BLAST! A true boy, he was interested in only 3 things, rocks, trucks and balls.  His mom wanted to shoot at the lake, so away we went! The shoot started with Asa realizing that the best game involved tossing his ball down the hill for his mom to grab and throw back up to him… He had a blast kicking his ball all over the place and he even somehow convinced me to stop taking photos for a minute to toss/roll/kick the ball around myself!  After a bit, we walked over to the water where Asa discovered the rocks. He loved them and simply couldn’t get enough of throwing them into the water. I think my favorite moment was watching him yell into the trees after I gave the tree a hug to show him how big it was!

A Country Western Wedding

First off, congratulations to Annie and Gabe! What an awesome wedding!  They had a fun country western theme and even though her dress wasn’t western, Annie made sure that her shoes fit the theme perfectly. Wheel barrows were used as coolers, and canning jars were transformed into wine glasses. The bridesmaids and flower girls wore green and black and all of the dresses for the bride and wedding party were hand made!  The ceremony was sweet, romantic and light hearted with beautiful hand written vows from the Bride and Groom.   Thank you, Annie and Gabe for letting me capture this wonderful and beautiful day!

Deadra and Jeff

I was lucky enough to be asked to shoot the first set of family photos since these two got married a year ago.  Shooting them was a lot of fun, and it was adorable to me how naturally sweet and loving they were. Thanks you two! Can’t wait to shoot with you again in the future!

Indy and Lily

I love working with kids, and these two have been some of my favorites. He was very outgoing and playful, Little Miss Lily, on the other hand was very shy and withdrawn… That is, until I caught that first picture and showed it to her, then, she opened right up and was all smiles.  These are two of my favorite photos from the shoot.

Shooting with Patty and Kristin

I had a shoot with a friend of my hubby’s, Kristin. She has been taking hip hop classes dance classes in her free time and so we decided that the outdoor portion of the shoot would be in some of her hip hop gear.  She wore a pair of sweats, a hat, and a sweatshirt over a cute top.  To go with the urban look, we decided we would do some shoots in a kind of an urban grungy area.  And what better urban grungy area than an alley behind a bar?  In the middle of the shoot it began pouring, so we had two choices, we could either head indoors to the studio, or head to a nearby covered bridge. Naturally, I went with the covered bridge and off we went. As we were shooting, we ran into Patty, from the prom shoot, who is also a friend of Kristin’s and took her with us to the studio for the two to do a join shoot.

While rummaging through different wardrobe options, we  came across some fun finds. A huge pair of black wings with marabou trim, and some peacock feathers.  Kristin pulled on an outfit and attached the peacock feathers as Patty covered herself in some artificial leaves. Paired together, we had a fun shoot that was very faery-esque.  After shooting with the two of them, we did some more single shots with each of them.

Prom Shoot with Patty and Jacklyn

I did a prom Photoshoot with my friend Tommy Landrum, a local Cottage Grove photographer.  Working with Tommy was a lot of fun, almost more so even than working with our two lovely models.  As Tommy is a studio photographer, and I am a natural light photographer, working together also involved a lot of teaching each other as well! I loved working with him and hope to do so again soon.

Working with Patricia and Jacklyn was fun as well!  Patricia is an aspiring model and is a perfect natural in front of the camera. She knew where and how to pose herself with little to no help from me.  Jaclynn, while a bit awkward at first, ended up loosening up after awhile and the two friends seems to have had a lot of fun and we got great shots of the two girls both individually and together!
